Pass through one of Austria's most beautiful destinations and dive into the multifaceted nature of the Ziller Valley, with breathtaking panoramic views and numerous scenic highlights. The Gerlostal is also known as the Valley of the valleys for it extends to the five side valleys, which are also ready for active holidaymakers. Peace-giving forests and rushing mountain streams accompany the tourists through unique natural areas.
A varied hike around lakes can be experienced around the Gerlos water sports center at Durlaßboden. Here the Gerlosbach Wildgerlostal accumulates in a reservoir, which has become a popular destination for locals and tourists.
The so-called thumb of the valleys is the Krummbachtal that can be crossed in an adventurous hike. Along the route, three huts invite you to a refreshment. If hikers follow the course of the Schönach valley from Oberwirt inn towards Stinkmoosalm the trail will go to a height of 2,000 meters. From there the tourists have a great view of the Schönachkees glacier. At the end of the trail begins a marked mountain path that leads to the Wimmerscharte at 2,500 meters altitude. The delightful Schwarzachtal lies west of the Schönachtal and attracts nature lovers too, offering a unique landscape. A walk along the Schwarzach on Schwarzachalm ends at 2475 meters at the Schwarzachscharte.
But climbers are warmly welcome at their expense, because there are high peaks to climb. The highest mountain in the valley is the Hochfeiler with a height of 3510 meters. This summit tour is only recommended for experienced mountain climbers. The summit of the Great Möseler lies on 3480 meters altitude, which can be achieved as part of a magnificent glacier.
Families do not have to give up such exciting trips, for the adventurous mountain hike to the Torhelm (2,494 meters), for example, does require some stamina, but also deals with children well too. The Zillertal therefore, is suitable to each Wandertyp and rewards each arduous climb with magnificent views of the Tyrolean Mountains.
