Our commitment to sustainability
We at Schönruh also have one or two things that we can improve for the future in terms of sustainability....
But we are already on the right track and try to do our homework every year.
We therefore clearly want to move in the direction of sustainability and differentiate ourselves from the much-practised greenwashing.
For us, harmony between people and nature takes centre stage. From the environmentally friendly construction of the hotel to the sustainable energy supply - we rely on innovative technologies to minimise our ecological footprint.
Many things have already been successfully implemented here with regard to a time-adapted approach to our natural environment - but this does not mean that we do not scrutinise and observe individual things in order to continuously adapt our concept of sustainability.
Actions instead of words.
- all our buildings are heated entirely with energy from Gerlos local heating - no more fossil fuels.
- The high alpine location at 1300 metres above sea level and the construction method make it possible to dispense with energy-intensive air conditioning systems. Our climate plaster ensures the ideal moisture exchange for a cosy indoor climate.
- LED light sources, motion detectors and digital thermostats are constantly replacing outdated technology
- When selecting our dishes, we prioritise the use of seasonal and regional products with many organic foods. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to do this with all foods - but where possible, we save on delivery routes or at best merge them to reduce the burden on the environment a little more.
- waste is reduced wherever possible and attention is paid to correct separation and subsequent disposal.
- We deliberately do not have minibars in the rooms, as the electrical waste and coolant that would then have to be disposed of are extremely harmful to the environment due to their short lifespan and are therefore simply no longer sustainable these days. Instead, our 24/7 "Maxi Bar" offers a large selection of chilled drinks and snacks.
- E-mobility is also replacing our in-house vehicle fleet.
- A PV system feeds environmentally friendly energy into our grid and supplies the appliances in our hotel.
- On sunny days, an approx. 130m² solar thermal system fills our buffer storage with energy which we can then use and consume in the hotel in a targeted manner.
- Our water comes directly from the surrounding mountains - filtered through the many layers of rock, it is ready to drink from all taps - additionally treated according to the proven Grander technology - this is sometimes the "best" we have to offer here in the Alps - you will feel it! Various techniques are also used to ensure that this "precious" commodity is not wasted carelessly.
- We avoid the use of aggressive cleaning products and use mostly organic or natural cleaning agents, which are less harmful to both housekeeping and the environment. We are also moving away from the use of products made from petrochemicals.
- You can also make a significant contribution to an environmentally conscious existence....... by using main switches in your room, not wasting water carelessly and only having towels changed when necessary. You also have the option of not having your room cleaned during your stay.
